NORWEGIAN FALL FAVORITES

Here in Norway, fall is over and it even started to snow yesterday! It was actually my first Norwegian fall since I moved here, and I loved this season, here! When I used to live in Paris, fall was synonym of rainy, grey, cold, sad weather so I was never really fond of this time of the year. But in Norway, i learnt a special word : "Koselig". It could be translated as "cosy", i guess. And this is what Norwegian fall felt like, to me!
So I wanted to share my Norwegian fall's "koselig" favorites:

- Lighting candles in the evening. My favorite lately is the linden tree candle from Yankee Candles.

- Walking in the nature and see all the trees dressed in orange, yellow and red.
- "Kanelboller". A traditional cinnamon roll. I am developping an addiction!
- My warm clothing kit. Burgundy must be my color!
- "Nype te". I discovered this here. It's Rose hip tea, and it's delicious with the cinnamon roll!

INKTOBER 2017

Not so many drawings made this year for Inktober. But still happy that I could participate a little bit to it.
Next year I hope I manage the 30 days challenge!

MY TOOLS FOR INKTOBER 2017

inktober 2017 tools raphaelle taschet

Inktober is back! And I decided to participate again.
Last year I didn't find the time to do the whole 31 days challenge, so I hope this year I will do better!
I will follow Jake Parker's prompt list as I find it quite challenging, especially this year.

Last year I only used one tool to draw. This year I want to experiment different pens and techniques. I  also want to train and try include more environments to my drawings, so I'm adding this as my own challenge on top of the prompt list.

Here is the list of the tools I'll work with this year:

1- Faber-Castell Pitt superfine pen, which is great for the line work and details.
2- Uniball Sign Pen. A medium tip pen with a great ink density.
3- Pentel pocket brush pen. Last year I used the Kuretake Fude brush pen. It's very similar except the Pentel brush is synthetic and the cartridges that come with the pen hold permanent ink.
4- Pentel touch pen. A great pen to do very thin lines as well as thicker ones.
5- My sketchbook is slightly bigger than the one I used last year, which will allow me to play more with the environments.
6- A thin and a medium brush to add shades with ink.
7- Uniball Signo white pen to add some thin details on top of the ink.
8- Muji thin gel pen for line work and details (a bit different from *1 as it's a ballpoint pen)
9- Prismacolor col-erase pencil. My favorite is the lavender colour.
10- ArtGraf Graphite ink . This tool is the one I am the most curious to test. It's a block of graphite that is used with water to create ink.

Good Inktober!

THE RASPBERRY HIDEOUT

An illustration I made during the Childhoodweek challenge organized by Beatrice Blue on Instagram, for the theme "hideout". The raspberry bushes in my grandparents' garden were my favorite place to hide to enjoy a good snack :)

SUMMERY ILLUSTRATIONS

Back to share this exciting project with you, guys. My first Norwegian commission since I moved here!

Some time ago, I was commissionned some illustrations for a Norwegian summer music festival, called Stavern Live. They wanted something happy and colourful, with elements that represent the location where the concerts take place. The location, Fredriksvern Verft, used to be a shipyard, and it holds some nice monuments that I was asked to draw. I had to go there to take some reference pictures and this is a place I definitely recommend to visit, if you plan to discover the region of Vestfold in Norway!
